Solar Cell As Source of Electricity

Solar Cell:

Solar cell, also called photovoltaic cell, is a device that directly converts the energy of light into electrical energy. Solar cells are fabricated with silicon. Unlike batteries or fuel cells, solar cells do not utilize chemical reactions or require fuel to produce electric power, and , unlike electric generators, they do not have any moving parts.

Solar cells can be arranged into larger grouping called arrays. These arrays composed of many thousands of individual cells, can function as central electric power stations, converting sunlight in to electric energy for distribution to industrial, commercial and residential use.

Advantages of solar energy :

1. Renewable Energy Source : The most important benefit of solar energy is that it is truly renewable energy. It can be harnessed in all areas of the world and is available every day. Solar energy is accessible as ling as we have the sun.
